This morning, I logged onto Vintage Virtue’s Instagram page to publish this post about 2 Peter 1:5-7. However, I was met with a message stating that the account was suspended.

It only took two days of social media presence for Instagram to deem my account as inappropriate. Apparently, the account doesn’t follow the “community guidelines on account integrity and authentic identity.” Which part lacks integrity? Which part of my identity is inauthentic? Is it problematic for me to identify as a Christian, homemaker, homeschooler, or conservative? The account is not visible to the public, and I cannot use it. So, I immediately filed an appeal.

Which of these posts is most offensive? The short bio, targeted to a niche audience: “Vintage virtues is a sight that encourages traditional values. Christianity, and lifestyle topics such as homeschooling, homesteading, and meals”. Is it the cross filled with virtues, the reshare from a fellow Christian homemaker’s blog, Waffle House testimony, Republican debate commentary, peanut butter bread, chicken-keeping, article about worship, or the cookies?

Social media may try to silence me, but God’s word will go forth. There is certainly an attack on Christianity and traditional values. Friends, I implore you to put on the full armor of God, stay in the word of God, and persevere. We were made for a time such as this.
UPDATE: After an appeal, and account review, Vintage Virtue’s account was reinstated.
