I like to meal plan, and my family likes to know what they’re having ahead of time. It’s one of the things my son enjoyed about public school. He gets a little FOMO based on what his older sister may get to eat at high school. Funny enough, she does not like school food and instead brings her school lunch.
I found these really cool printable breakfast and lunch calendars. They’re free, fillable calendars produced by General Mills. They’re pre-made for each month of the school year, so there’s little work to do on the template. They’re super easy to download, fill in, and print. You can also print them blank and fill them in by hand. In addition, I used our district’s school menu as a baseline for some inspiration in our meal planning.

Together, we came up with a breakfast and lunch menu for the month of August. We all get into a rut from time to time, especially when it comes to the question of what to cook, day in and day out, multiple meals per day. Having a baseline meal plan really helped take the guesswork out of each day. I knew exactly what to buy and exactly what to make, so I was free to focus more on school matters during our workday. I found that a little planning ahead of time really helped reduce stress and save time for the rest of the month. I have taken pictures of a week of our meals.

Lunch: Flat bread pizza, side salad, and bubble fruit cup

Lunch: Enchiladas, cilantro rice, and flan cup

Lunch: Cheesy bread and marinara, side salad, and Jacob’s smoothie special!

Lunch: National Waffle Day!
Chicken & waffles with apple pecan fruit salad

Lunch: Outdoor Picnic turkey sandwiches, Terra chips, apple, and cucumbers

Saved time and reduced stress means more time for Fun Friday! Friday’s lunch was an outdoor picnic. Afterwards, we played a game of soccer. The final score was 5 to 4, and Jacob scored the last goal! I hope these menus will help you too!
